It was held the festive meeting dedicated to the World Intellectual Property Day

n 25 April this year, on the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day, celebrated this year under the title “Movies – A Global Passion”, in the conference hall of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) was held the festive meeting, attended by researchers and inventors from the institutions of the Academy of Sciences and universities, representatives of the associations for collective management of copyright and related rights, creative unions, right holders, counselors and attorneys in the IP field, specialists of AGEPI.

The festive meeting was opened by Dr. John Tiganas, Deputy Director General of AGEPI, who congratulated the audience on the occasion of this celebration important for the entire international community.

In his speech, Ion Tiganas specified that in April there were organized a series of activities to mark the importance of the role of intellectual property in the context of international economic and social progress. “Intellectual property is an important factor of economic growth. Given that innovation is a key driver of growth, we consider it to be extremely important that the value of intellectual property be understood and protected by everyone. Thus, the celebration of World Intellectual Property Day is a first step in this regard, is a special occasion to recognize the merits of creators and inventors that shape this world. On behalf of the Director General of AGEPI, I thank all creative people of our country, for the courage to dedicate their lives to this fascinating field – intellectual property”, said AGEPI Deputy Director General.

A word of congratulation from the partner institutions delivered the academician – coordinator of Agricultural Sciences Department of ASM, Boris Gaina, who noted the solidarity and laborious cooperation of the creative people. “Intellectual property is a concern of the whole society. The more innovative our community, the more prosperous our country”, said academician Gaina.

About the current situation in the field of local cinematography, famous films made ​​by known producers, directors and script-writers of our nation, but also about the problems faced by the film industry in our country, reported the coordinator of Humanities and Arts Department of ASM, Dr. Habilitate, Master of Arts Aurelian Danila.

In the event, Ion Tiganas, Deputy Director General of AGEPI, presented the awards of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), namely: WIPO Trophy “Innovative Enterprise”, which went to the Institute of Horticulture and Food Technology, winner of the International Specialized Exhibition “Infoinvent-2011” and WIPO Diplomas – to WIPO Gold Medal winners, awarded in the ISE “Infoinvent-2013”. Thus, WIPO Diploma for “Most Gifted Inventor” was handed to Mr. Tapcov Victor, State University of Moldova; “Best Woman Inventor” – to Mrs. Tatiana Chiriac, Institute of Microbiology and Biotechnology of the ASM and “Junior Inventor” – to Mrs. Anna Moldovan, Institute of Zoology of the ASM.

Traditionally, in the festive meeting dedicated to the World Intellectual Property Day, AGEPI mentions the most active attorney in industrial property of the previous year. Thus, AGEPI Trophy “Most Active Patent Attorney of 2013” was awarded to Mr. Andrei Popa, who submitted the majority of applications for the registration of industrial property objects.

Also, the academician-coordinator of the Natural and Exact Sciences Department of ASM, member of the International Jury of the International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva, Aurelian Gulea, presented to inventors the awards with which were appreciated the inventions of Moldovan scientists, exhibited in the current edition of the Exhibition (gold, silver and bronze medals), which took place in April this year.

World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated every year on April 26 by the member states of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), thus to emphasize the role of intellectual property in economic, cultural and social development of all countries of the world. The celebration is marked since 2000, and April 26 is the day on which the Convention Establishing the WIPO (1970) came into force.
