12.04.2023

The manifestations dedicated to the World Intellectual Property Day in the Republic of Moldova started today, April 12, with an online event focused on women and intellectual property, attended by over 90 persons. The webinar was organized by the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), in cooperation with the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (OED).

The event, entitled “Women and Intellectual Property: Accelerating Innovation and Creativity”, focused on the important role of women in developing and promoting innovation and creativity in various fields, including technology, art, design, fashion industry, etc.

The purpose of the webinar was to encourage women to protect their creations by registering intellectual property rights such as trademarks, design, patents or copyrights.

In the opening of the event Eugeniu Rusu, Director General of AGEPI, mentioned that: “This webinar comes to emphasize the significant contribution that women make in the field of intellectual property and to highlight the need to promote gender equality in this vital field for the development of our society. I am confident that today’s event will be an excellent opportunity for all participants to share ideas, learn and make useful connections. Together, we can accelerate innovation and creativity in the Republic of Moldova and contribute to a more prosperous and fairer world.”

In her turn, Rodica Crudu, Deputy Director of the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development, emphasized the State’s support for women entrepreneurs and innovators. “OED promotes and develops the entrepreneurial culture among business people through an Entrepreneurial Education Program, by means of which we also support the need to integrate intellectual property into the business strategies and models of companies. At the same time, the institution supports the economic empowerment of women through the development of a new Women’s Entrepreneurship Support Program that aims to offer women the acquisition of managerial skills for business development, access to financing, personal development and exchange of experience and best practices of professional mentors”, emphasized Rodica Crudu.

According to the program, the event gave the participants the opportunity to listen to the presentations of intellectual property specialists who shared their experiences and knowledge of the intellectual property rights registration process and its advantages. Thus, the participants had the opportunity to better understand the process of protecting their creations and learn how to benefit from their intellectual property rights in an efficient way. In addition, the Digital Innovations and Technology Startups Support Program and the Women’s Entrepreneurship Support Program Concept was presented during the webinar, with the aim of supporting women in developing their businesses and promoting innovations and creativity in various fields. Thus, the event provided valuable opportunities for all participants interested in improving their knowledge and developing their businesses sustainably.

The event organized by AGEPI and OED was part of the series of manifestations dedicated to World Intellectual Property Day, which is marked every year on April 26. The theme of World Intellectual Property Day 2023 is “Women and Intellectual Property: Accelerating Innovation and Creativity”.
