In order to enhance the cooperation relations between the State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova (AGEPI) and the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks of Romania (OSIM), in the period 2-3 April 2014 at the AGEPI took place the working visit of OSIM delegation led by Mr. Ionel MUSCALU, Director General.
Agenda of Bilateral Meeting at AGEPI and OSIM Director General level included topics of mutual interest for the two offices and targeted mainly the current state of Moldovan-Romanian bilateral relations in the field of intellectual property, especially in the context of European integration the Republic of Moldova goes through. In opening the meeting, Mr. Ionel MUSCALU, OSIM Director General said that the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks of Romania, joining the Romanian Government statement, declared 2014 – the year of the Republic of Moldova, reiterating OSIM commitment to support the State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova in its European course.
The meeting continued with the presentation of activities of the two offices. There have been discussed the organizational structure of offices, the optimization of their functions and statistical results recorded by the two offices during 2013.
Following an exchange of views on the priorities and challenges of 2014, the directors of two offices: Mrs. Lilia BOLOCAN, AGEPI Director General and Mr. Ionel MUSCALU, OSIM Director General agreed to build bilateral cooperation in achieving common objectives in the framework of bilateral or multilateral projects making use of the EPO, OHIM programs and also those funded by the EU.
In accordance with the bilateral meeting agenda, the delegations also addressed the developments of the international and regional industrial property protection system, agreed on strengthening and expanding cooperation between AGEPI and OSIM within the World Intellectual Property Organization, the European Patent Organization and other specialized forums.
The visit ended with the signing, on April 3 at the AGEPI, of the AGEPI-OSIM Cooperation Joint Action Programme to be organized in the period 2014-2015.
