Students and doctoral candidates from “Nicolae Testemițanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy participated on 13 December in an open lesson on the field of intellectual property (IP), delivered by representatives of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI). The event took part in a hybrid format and was organized at the initiative of the Association of Medical Students and Residents (AMSR).

During the lesson, Andrei Moisei, principal consultant, Communication and Training Division of AGEPI, presented the normative-legislative framework in the field of intellectual property protection in the Republic of Moldova, especially inventions. Another important topic addressed was intellectual property as a tool to use research results, management of innovations and intellectual property within universities. Students and doctoral candidates also had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the “Patent Panorama” platform, created and managed by AGEPI, and its functionalities.

The participants in the seminar were active and interested in the topics discussed. They asked questions regarding the procedure for registering inventions, registration fees, as well as general questions related to the legislation in the field, about the services offered by AGEPI, etc.

Carrying out knowledge dissemination activities on the need to protect and enforce intellectual property rights is part of the process of training students and doctoral candidates in the field of intellectual property, constituting the main objective of the Cooperation Agreement between AGEPI and SUMP “Nicolae Testemițanu”, signed in 2009.
