The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) takes note of the material published on the portals realitatea.md and bani.md under the title “Copyright: We have evidence that an AGEPI deputy would have promoted the interests of some organizations in Russia” and categorically rejects any insinuations regarding the involvement of the institution or its employees in illegal activities or in promoting the interests of some parties.

These statements are devoid of any real basis, are not supported by concrete evidence and represent a continuation of the disinformation campaign launched in the public space by certain collective management organizations, in order to put pressure on the institution and mislead the public.

AGEPI’s official position:

1. All activities of the Agency are carried out in strict accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Moldova, with the principles of transparency, impartiality and equal treatment of all actors in the field of intellectual property.
2. AGEPI exercises its legal powers provided for by Law No 114/2014 on the State Agency on Intellectual Property and Law No 230/2022 on Copyright and Related Rights, including the approval, designation of the collector, monitoring and control of collective management organizations.
3. Decisions on the designation of the collector of remunerations have been and will continue to be adopted exclusively on the basis of law and transparent administrative procedures, maintaining the continuity of the designation period without interruption.
4. AGEPI established an internal working group (by Director's Order No 67 of May 25, 2026) to thoroughly examine the issues related to the designation of the collector, increasing traceability and streamlining the process of collecting and distributing remunerations, and a number of concrete measures were taken (suspension of the activity of collective management organizations that did not comply with AGEPI’s decisions, initiation of special controls to verify compliance with legal provisions, etc.).

AGEPI believes that the dissemination of such serious accusations without prior verification of the facts and without the presentation of concrete evidence affects public trust in state institutions and serves narrow interests.

The institution emphasizes that it remains open to constructive dialogue with all interested parties and calls for a civilized approach based on legal arguments, for the benefit of authors and copyright holders.

AGEPI will continue to fulfill its legal mandate with professionalism, impartiality and transparency, contributing to the consolidation of a fair, predictable and aligned collective management system with European standards.
