The State Agency on Intellectual Property informs interested parties that, in recent days, it has received several complaints from rightholders, who have reported the transmission of messages and notifications for the removal of digital content — so-called “takedown messages” — presented as having been issued or transmitted by AGEPI.

AGEPI categorically denies this information.

The institution has not issued, transmitted or authorized the transmission of such notifications to digital platforms or to third parties on behalf of rightholders. AGEPI has also not authorized the use of the institution’s name, official address, contact details, the identity of its employees or any other institutional elements in such communications.

AGEPI recalls that it exercises its powers strictly within the limits of the powers provided by law, as a public authority responsible for the field of intellectual property. The institution does not act as a private representative of rightholders in procedures for the removal of content from digital platforms and does not send “takedown” notifications on their behalf.

If you receive messages, notifications or documents claiming to come from AGEPI and requesting the removal of content, blocking of materials, transmission of data or taking urgent actions, we recommend that you exercise increased caution and verify the authenticity of the communication.

AGEPI appeals to rightholders, digital platforms, partners and other persons concerned:

• do not respond to such requests without prior verification of their origin;
• do not transmit personal, commercial or technical data to unidentified persons;
• do not access suspicious links or documents;
• verify any communication allegedly issued by AGEPI through the institution’s official channels.

AGEPI has taken the necessary measures to document the situation and has notified the competent authorities to examine the circumstances regarding the possible fraudulent use of the institution’s identity.

Persons who have received similar messages are asked to inform AGEPI and, where appropriate, the competent authorities, attaching copies of the messages, documents and contact details used by the sender.

AGEPI urges the public to be vigilant and reiterates that any unauthorized use of the institution’s name is inadmissible and will be treated with the utmost seriousness.
