The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) invites interested parties to attend the fourth session in a series of events dedicated to the Closing the Gender Gap in Intellectual Property – Women and Tourism. The event will take place on November 15, in online format.

This session will be attended by experts, who will share their professional experiences in the field of tourism and highlight the role that intellectual property has played along the way. Also, topics related to how intellectual property can help women’s participation in and contribution to this field will be discussed. The participants’ presentations will be followed by a discussion panel and a question and answer session. Closing statements will be made by representatives of the World Tourism Organization and WIPO.

The series of events dedicated to the Closing the Gender Gap in Intellectual Property is organized in response to a decision taken by the Committee on Development and Intellectual Property (CDIP) at its 22nd session and approved by the WIPO General Assemblies. This builds on a proposal from Mexico, whereby WIPO member states recognized the importance of reducing the gender gap in intellectual property and increasing women’s participation in IP ecosystems. The purpose of these events is to share best practices, lessons learned and research related to the gender gap in intellectual property, etc.
