Participants in the Information and Learning Campaign “NO TO PLAGIARISM!” met in a Final Conference

The Final Conference of the Information and Learning Campaign “NO TO PLAGIARISM!” took place on May 20, this year.

The Information and Learning Campaign “NO TO PLAGIARISM!”, an initiative of the Association of Librarians of the Republic of Moldova (ALRM) and aligned with the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), aimed at encouraging young people from the Republic of Moldova to increase their level of knowledge in the field of copyright and information technology, to promote respect for intellectual property and strengthen the capacity to communicate and present their own ideas, hypotheses and theories, without infringing copyright and observing all the rigors of citation of works and works of authors.

The events of the campaign were aimed especially at young people aged 12-18 from various districts of the republic, who, under the guidance of school librarians and teachers, had the opportunity to acquire new knowledge and skills of synthesis and analysis, critical thinking and creative exposure.

The Final Conference brought together representatives of the organizers and partner institutions, teachers, librarians and, of course, pupils - the main beneficiaries of the Campaign.

In the opening of the event, ALRM representative Victoria Vasilica reviewed the achievements of the campaign and presented the prospects of consolidating knowledge in the field of copyright and multiplying the results obtained in the Campaign “NO TO PLAGIARISM!” by organizing future projects and events in the field of intellectual property and counteracting the phenomenon of plagiarism in the educational system of the republic.

Liliana Vieru, head of the Communication and International Relations Department of AGEPI present at the event, assured the audience of the Agency’s openness for the realization of some projects in the field of copyright and other aspects of intellectual property and informed the participants about the educational system in the field of intellectual property.

In her communication addressed to the conference participants, the AGEPI representative focused in particular on the educational offer in the field of intellectual property, educational platforms and distance learning tools available free of charge both on the “eLearning” platform of AGEPI and through distance learning centers of core international and regional organizations, including the World Intellectual Property Organization, the European Patent Office and the European Union Intellectual Property Office.

The Contest in the Field of Intellectual Property for Young People (6th edition) launched by AGEPI on April 26 was of special interest for the pupils participating in the event.

At the end of the event, the participants in the Information and Learning Campaign “NO TO PLAGIARISM!” had the opportunity to exchange opinions and experiences and to express their desiderata for future events, and the pupils’ testimonials were the ones that created the atmosphere and validated the importance of the topic addressed and the topicality of the Campaign carried out.

We remind you that the Information and Learning Campaign “No to Plagiarism!” which is held during the months of April-May, is part of the program of activities dedicated to World Book and Copyright Day and Librarian Professional Day and is carried out within the project “Capacity Building of Civil Society Organizations”, implemented by ERIM and funded by the European Union.
