The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Daren Tang, organized on May 3 an online meeting with heads of intellectual property offices of the Organization’s member countries, within the framework of which he discussed about the Organization’s activity, initiatives and budget for the biennium 2024-2025.

The Director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), Eugeniu Rusu, participated in this meeting, along with other representatives of the institution.

Daren Tang presented the budget proposal for the next biennium to the Member States. The official confirmed the Organization’s commitment to focus on four priority areas, such as the development of the normative-legislative framework, the provision of global intellectual property services, the implementation of the development agenda and the increase of the population’s perception of intellectual property.

The Director General of WIPO also stated the importance of international cooperation in protecting the rights of owners and creators and expressed gratitude for the efforts made by member countries in this regard.

In his turn, Eugeniu Rusu presented information about the activities carried out by AGEPI in the field of intellectual property in the Republic of Moldova and highlighted the support given by WIPO in this field.

Finally, Daren Tang emphasized the importance of continued cooperation and exchange of experience for the development and enforcement of intellectual property rights in WIPO member countries.

We note that the Organization’s program and budget for the biennium 2024-2025 will be approved during the 64th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization, which will take place from July 6 to 14, 2023, in Geneva, Switzerland.
