By Order of the Director General of AGEPI No 232 of 21 December 2015 on the application of the 2016 version of the 10th edition of the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purpose of the Registration of Marks (CIPS), issued pursuant to the decision of the Committee of Experts of the Nice Union (adopted in the 25th session of April 27 to May 1, 2015), from 1 January 2016, is implemented the 2016 version of the 10th edition of CIPS.

According to paragraph 1 of the Order:

• In all applications for the registration of trademarks with the filing date prior to 01.01.2016 products and/or services will be classified according to the 2016 version of the 10th edition of CIPS;
• There will not be reclassified products and/or services:
  • included in applications with the filing date prior to 01.01.2016;
  • on renewal of the registration of marks;
• In accordance with the recommendations of the Committee of Experts of the Nice Union, AGEPI will introduce the abbreviation “NCL (10-2016)” for the list of products and services in the delivered documents, published materials and trademark registration certificates.
