The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) announces that the 12th edition of the International Classification for Industrial Designs (LOC) is being implemented as of 1 January 2019.

Thus, in all applications for registration of industrial designs with the date of filing on or after January 1, 2019, the industrial designs will be classified according to the 12th edition of the LOC; the industrial designs: included in the applications with the filing date prior to 01.01.2019 and upon renewal of the registration of industrial designs will not be reclassified.

Also, in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee of Experts of the Special Union for the International Classification for Industrial Designs, AGEPI will introduce the abbreviation “LOC (12)” in the sent documents, published materials and industrial design registration certificates.
