Multilateral meeting on intellectual property issues in Brussels

On currently February 20 in Brussels, Belgium, there was held a multilateral meeting on intellectual property issues, organized by the European Commission in cooperation with the European Patent Office (EPO) for representatives of Moldova and Ukraine.

The meeting followed a scope to promote the national system of intellectual property rights protection of the two countries in the European business medium.

The meeting was attended by representatives of authorities responsible for intellectual property protection in Moldova and Ukraine, leaders of the European Neighborhood Policy of the European Commission (DG Trade Unit E2 – “Public Procurement and Intellectual Property” (EC)) and the European Patent Organization, and representatives of BUSINESSEUROPE - Employers' Confederation of EU, headquarters in Brussels, an organization representing more than 40 industrial federations in 34 European countries, the Federal Union of German industry, the International Federation of phonographic industries, industrial associations accredited to the European Parliament having an important role in EU the policy on internal market development, as well as the identification of the rate of EU foreign economic policy.

European Patent Organization was represented by Gerard Giroud, principal director for European and International Affairs of the European Patent Office, moderator of the meetings. The Republic of Moldova was represented by Dr. Dorian Chirosca, Director General AGEPI, Dr. Svetlana Munteanu, Director AGEPI advisor, and Mrs. Natalia Calenic, chief Direction analysis, strategic planning and European integration of the Customs Service. In turn, the Ukrainian delegation was represented by Dr.. Mykola Paladii, president of the State Department for Intellectual Property, Elena Shcherbakova, head of international cooperation and European integration Direction of this institution and Dmytro Tabachnyk, First Vice-President for Science and Education, member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The meeting in question is a unique opportunity to promote the investment climate in Moldova in terms of recent developments in the national system of intellectual property as the important element of security and stability in the country investment policy.
