On March 5, this year, representatives of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) participated in a joint meeting, organized between AGEPI and the State Enterprise Center of Applied Metrology and Certification (CMAC), which had as its main objective the strengthening of interinstitutional cooperation between AGEPI and CMAC, in the context of the Cooperation Agreement signed on May 5, 2021.
During the meeting, Dorin ȘERBAN, interim administrator of CMAC, mentioned that the institution’s objective is to strengthen the competitiveness of clients by providing metrology, certification, product testing and professional training services, highlighted the importance of ensuring product compliance with international standards and reiterated CMAC’s interest in expanding certification activity for products protected by geographical indications.
In turn, Natalia MOGOL, Deputy Director of AGEPI, presented the latest developments in the field of GI, emphasizing the changes and improvements to the normative-legislative framework for the protection and control of GI. AGEPI’s openness to provide the necessary advisory support for training CMAC employees in the field of IP, in order to strengthen institutional capacities and understand the process of certification of products with geographical indications, was also confirmed during the discussions.
