The Cabinet of Ministers approved on August 21, this year, the Draft Law on Amending Certain Normative Acts (adjustment of the normative framework in the field of copyright and related rights), presented during the Executive session by the Director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property, Eugeniu Rusu.

In order to strengthen the normative framework in the field of copyright and related rights and to connect the legislation related to the provisions of Law No. 230/2022, through this project it was proposed to amend certain laws, which contain references to the name of the abrogated normative act, in order to update its name, namely: Law No. 230/2022 on Copyright and Related Rights.

The amendments proposed in the annex to Law No. 230/2022 on Copyright and Related Rights are aimed at bringing the codes of equipment and material supports for which compensatory remuneration is paid for the private copy in line with the new NC codes included in the Combined Nomenclature of Goods, approved by Law No. 172/2014 and which entered into force on 01.01.2023 (taking into account the wording of Law No. 341/2022).

At the same time, amendments were proposed to Law No. 114/2014 on the State Agency on Intellectual Property, in order to facilitate the conditions for obtaining the mediator qualification within the Mediation Commission in the field of intellectual property.
