Future Judges and Prosecutors on a Documentary Visit to AGEPI

04/19/2018

On 19 April this year, more than 40 candidates for the positions of judge and prosecutor from the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) were on a documentary visit to the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI).

The purpose of the visit was the familiarization with the national system of protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights in the Republic of Moldova, especially with the examination of intellectual property-related disputes.

Thus, the candidates for the positions of judge and prosecutor attended the working session of the Appeals Board of AGEPI, the body with the right of extrajudicial settlement of intellectual property-related disputes, in the framework of which the appeals of the interested persons against the registration or rejection of the registration of industrial property objects were examined.

Finally, the participants were present at the adoption of decisions taken on the appeals examined during the session of the Appeals Board.

The NIJ audience visit is included in the list of joint activities planned by AGEPI and NIJ under the Memorandum of Cooperation signed on April 12, 2013, which requires the promotion of knowledge about the national system of protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights among employees in the justice sector of the Republic of Moldova. Thus, within the activities stipulated in the Memorandum of Cooperation, the two institutions organize annually training seminars in the field, including with the invitation of experts and specialists from abroad.
