09/15/2021

The Director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), Eugeniu Rusu, had a bilateral meeting today with the Director General of the National Center of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Reabovolov. The meeting took place in Chisinau in the context of the participation of the Belarusian delegation to the Interstate Council on Legal Protection and Defense of Intellectual Property, 11th session.

Thus, the current stage of cooperation between the two institutions was addressed during the meeting. The Parties made an exchange of information and views on the latest legislative and institutional developments in the field of intellectual property (IP), and also on ongoing projects.

The Director General of AGEPI informed the Belarusian side about the priorities related to the European integration of the IP system, which marks the activity of the institution. “AGEPI has as a priority objective the integration of the national intellectual property system in the international and European one. At the same time, we are open to mutually beneficial cooperation with all intellectual property offices,” said Eugeniu Rusu.

In his turn, the Director General of the National Center of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Belarus stressed that in a world of globalization, bilateral and multilateral cooperation is not only beneficial, but even a necessity.

At the end of the meeting, both sides appreciated the exchange of experience they had.

The IP cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Belarus is based on the Agreement concluded between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the Republic of Belarus on cooperation in the field of industrial property protection, signed on April 6, 2004. In the same context, at the international level, cooperation between the two states takes place on the basis of international and regional conventions, treaties and agreements in the field of intellectual property, to which they are party, including within the World Intellectual Property Organization and the Interstate Council on Legal Protection and Defense of Intellectual Property.

Bilateral cooperation in the field of IP on the exchange of information and patent documents is carried out on the basis of the Agreement concluded on 24 May 2006 by AGEPI and the National Center of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Belarus.
