AGEPI, Partner at Christmas Hackathon 2018

12/17/2018

Christmas Hackathon: IoT Edition is over. 45 students struggled to find a successful solution to the challenge launched by the organizers over the 24 hours they had at their disposal.

This year’s mission was to design devices based on sensors and data exchange with software support.

The participants, grouped in 9 teams, showed great creativity, and also knowledge in the IT field. Following the presentations of each team, the jury, made up of specialists from an IT company, chose the winning teams of the Christmas Hackathon 2018.

The Microware team ranked first, with the Smart City project. The project has integrated several devices: humidity sensors, smoke detectors, gas detectors and solutions to improve the environment.

The SNICKERS team ranked second, which elaborated a fir-tree with sensors that incorporate lighting according to the rhythm of the music on the phone or the live one, a device to count the days until Christmas and other functional sensors.

The Muskellion team ranked third, which presented an application for recording and photographing guests coming to the winter holidays.

The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) has been a partner of the Christmas Hackathon: IoT Edition and offered prizes to the participants.

The event took place from 15 to 16 December this year and was organized by BEST Chisinau, a local group of the Board of European Students of Technology, an apolitical, nonprofit European student organization aiming to facilitate relations between students, universities and IT companies.
