AGEPI participates in the Information and Learning Campaign “No to Plagiarism”

The inauguration conference of the Information and Learning Campaign “No to Plagiarism” took place on April 20, this year, in online format. It takes place from April to May 2022 and is organized by the Association of Librarians of the Republic of Moldova.

The direct beneficiaries of this campaign are young people aged between 12 and 18, and the indirect beneficiaries are school librarians and teachers. The general goal is to make them aware of the importance of respecting intellectual property (IP) rights, copyright and related rights and the ethical and correct use of information.

In the opening, the Director General of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), Eugeniu Rusu, congratulated the initiative to organize the event and reiterated the importance of educating young people in the spirit of respecting IP rights. In the same context, pupils were urged to participate in the Contest in the Field of Intellectual Property for Young People, organized by AGEPI, which will be launched on April 26 in the context of World Intellectual Property Day.

Also, the principal consultant in the Communication and Training Division within AGEPI, Andrei Moisei, participated with a presentation called “The ABC of Intellectual Property”. The specialist talked about general aspects on the role and purpose of this field, about the IP objects, the need, the advantages and the ways of their protection, the phenomena of counterfeiting, piracy, plagiarism and their negative effects.

AGEPI’s participation in the Campaign “No to Plagiarism” is part of the World Intellectual Property Day, which takes place this year with the theme: “Intellectual Property and Youth - Innovating for a Better Future”.
