At AGEPI is held the sixteenth edition of the Annual Practical-Scientific Symposium “AGEPI Readings-2014”

Today, April 24, in the conference hall of the State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova (AGEPI) has opened its work the Annual Practical-Scientific Symposium “AGEPI Readings-2014”, sixteenth edition. The purpose of this event is to provide a necessary platform for debate on intellectual property issues.

The symposium is held under the title “Current Problems of Protection, Enforcement and Use of Intellectual Property”.

In his welcoming speech, Ion Tiganas, Deputy Director General of AGEPI , said that intellectual property forms the basic element of progress and major current topic in contemporary times, contributing to the solution of many current problems. “Intellectual property is the element that defines a developed economy and innovations are the ones that set the tone. The Symposium “AGEPI Readings-2014” enables us to communicate and understand better what the field of intellectual property involves. I encourage you to turn this event into a field of debate”, said Ion Tiganas.

The event will be held over two days, with the following sessions: recent developments in the field of protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights; protection of industrial property rights: legal and procedural aspects, inventions and plant varieties, trademarks, industrial designs, geographical indications, appellations of origin and traditional specialties guaranteed; current issues of copyright and related rights; management of intellectual property; economic potential of intellectual property.

The start of the session I was given by Tudor JOVMIR, senior expert, Chemistry, Medicine, Biology Division, Inventions and Plant Varieties Department, AGEPI, through communication “Patent Analytics - An Imperative of AGEPI”. The session continued with communications presented by Nurgaisa SAHIPOVA, Head of IPO Marketing Department, Republican State Organization “National Institute of Intellectual Property” of the Committee for Intellectual Property Rights of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, entitled “Current Issues in the Field of Copyright”, Simon CERTAN, Dr. Hab. of Economics, Professor, State Agrarian University of Moldova, with the theme “The Impact of the Association Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova on the Formation of the Intellectual Potential”, Vitalie MINCIUNA, Dr. Hab., National Council for Accreditation and Attestation, with the theme “Scientific Accreditation: Support or Brake of the Innovative Process?”, etc..

We should mention that in the work of the current edition of the Symposium participate over 90 representatives of the central public authorities, academic institutions and universities in the Republic of Moldova, patent attorneys, AGEPI specialists and foreign guests, representatives of the State Office for Inventions and Trademarks of Romania, Romanian Office for Copyright, National Centre for Intellectual Property of Belarus, Republican State Organization “National Institute of Intellectual Property”, Republic of Kazakhstan.
