Copyright. Application Requirements

The application for registration of an object of copyright and related rights (hereinafter - application) in a work published or unpublished, shall be filed with the AGEPI by the applicant personally or through a person empowered by power of attorney issued under the law, during the period of protection of copyright.

The following objects of copyright or related rights (hereinafter - objects) shall be submitted for registration: 

  •  literary works;
  •  dramatic works;
  •  scientific works;
  •  musical works;
  •  works of fine art;
  •  photographic works;
  •  works of applied art;
  •  works of architecture, urban planning and park and garden design;
  •  computer programs; 
  • databases;
  • composite works;
  • derived works;
  • audiovisual works;
  • phonograms;
  • videograms;
  • performances;
  • choreographic works and pantomimes;
  • programs of broadcasting organizations.

The application shall be filled in on a standard from approved by the AGEPI and shall include the following:

  • date and entry number of the application in the AGEPI (shall be filled in by the AGEPI);
  • identification data of the applicant: for natural persons - name, surname, full address, telephone number, fax with area code, e-mail; for legal entities - official name, address, premises,  including the official name and address of the country of origin, telephone number, fax with area code, e-mail. Natural and legal persons from the Republic of Moldova shall also indicate the unique state identification number (IDNO / IDNP);
  • name, surname and pseudonym, if applicable, of the author, the co-authors, if any, full address and official name of the country of nationality (for stateless persons - country of domicile, and in the absence thereof - the country in which the latter has an industrial or commercial enterprise), telephone number, fax with area code, e-mail;
  • request for registration of the object, specifying the name, the language in which the object is exposed, the scope of the object, whether published or unpublished;
  • identification data of the holder of economic rights: the natural persons - name, surname, full address, telephone number, fax with area code, e-mail; for legal entities - official name, premises, including the official name and address of the country of origin, telephone number, fax with area code, e-mail. Natural and legal persons from the Republic of Moldova shall also indicate the unique state identification number (IDNO / IDNP);
  • signature of the applicant, clearly indicating the name and surname, date of signing the application (where the applicant is a legal entity the application shall be signed by the head of the unity by indicating the function, name and surname of the signatory);
  • if the application is filed through a representative, it shall be signed by the representative, indicating the name and surname of the representative, full address and official name of the country of nationality.
