On the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day, the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) organized informational lessons in the field of intellectual property (IP) for pupils from several educational institutions from Chisinau, Ialoveni and Floresti. Intellectual property and the Sustainable Development Goals: Building Our Common Future with Innovation and Creativity is the theme of World Intellectual Property Day 2024.
Among the educational institutions that benefited from this educational program were:
- Theoretical Lyceum “Aurel David” from Bardar village, Ialoveni district;
- Theoretical Lyceum “Mihail Sadoveanu” from Chisinau;
- Theoretical Lyceum “Andrei Vartic” from Ialoveni;
- Theoretical Lyceum “Petre Stefanuca” from Ialoveni;
- Theoretical Lyceum “Ion Creanga” from the town of Floresti;
- Theoretical Lyceum “Miron Costin” from the town of Floresti and
- Theoretical Lyceum “Mihai Viteazul” from Chisinau.
AGEPI specialists offered pupuls detailed information about intellectual property and its importance in the context of sustainable development goals. The role of innovation and creativity in building a more sustainable and progressive common future was emphasized. The ways in which intellectual property can be protected were also discussed, highlighting the importance of this process in stimulating innovation and social and economic progress.
Also, during the celebration of the World Intellectual Property Day, a group of young people from the volunteer organization AIESEC Chisinau visited AGEPI, where they also had an information lesson in the field of IP.
At the same time, at the invitation of the Free International University of Moldova (ULIM), AGEPI organized a public lesson on IP, specially dedicated to the World Intellectual Property Day, for students from cycle I – Bachelor’s degree, within the Law Department.
About 700 pupils and students participated in these information lessons organized by AGEPI, benefiting from detailed knowledge about IP and its importance in the context of sustainable development goals.
AGEPI wants these information lessons to be a basis for the development of young people as innovators and creators of value in society. At the same time, the institution’s specialists expressed their intention to organize other information lessons throughout the year, aimed at contributing to the education of pupils and students in the field of intellectual property.
The World Intellectual Property Day has been marked since 2000, and April 26 is the day when the Convention establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization (1970) entered into force.
