AGEPI, partner of the National Science and Engineering Contest for Pupils “Mold SEF”

The National Science and Engineering Contest “Mold SEF” (Moldova Science and Engineering Fair), 11th edition, took place in the period 17-19 February.

The Contest “Mold SEF” is organized annually by the National Agency for Curriculum and Evaluation within the Ministry of Education and Research, in partnership with the National Association of ICT Companies and with the support of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI). Its purpose is to identify and develop multiple intelligences in students, to increase interest in the study of mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry, biology, natural sciences, technical and engineering sciences.

The opening ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Director General of AGEPI, Andrei Popa, who wished the participants good luck. “The Contest “MOLD SEF” is a unique opportunity for talented and passionate for science and engineering pupuls to share their ideas and innovations with the entire community and take part in a stimulating competition. The State Agency on Intellectual Property is the institution that focuses on stimulating creativity, the innovative spirit of students and curiosity in the discovery of innovative solutions. On behalf of AGEPI, we wish you all the best of luck and hope that this contest will be a unique and rewarding experience for each of you. We encourage you to explore new ideas and technologies and to be creative and innovative in everything you do.”

For this year’s edition of the Contest, 75 projects developed by 109 students, guided by 55 teachers, representatives of educational institutions from 19 districts and municipalities, were registered. Of the total number of projects, 20 were in the Science and Mathematics category, 35 in the Applied Sciences category and 20 in the Information Technology category.

The evaluation criteria for the participating projects are: applicability, creativity, scientific approach, complexity of the study, up-to-dateness of the topic, clarity of presentation. Taking these criteria into account, the Jury Commission selected 30 projects to be awarded at the national stage and proposed the submission of two projects for participation in the international stage of the contest.

The winners of the national stage of the Contest are students of educational institutions from the districts/municipalities: Balti, Cahul, Chisinau, Criuleni, Glodeni, Hincesti, Ialoveni, Nisporeni, Singerei, Soroca, Soldanesti, Ungheni, and ATU Gagauzia.

At the same time, the projects proposed for participation in the international stage of the Contest are: “New Semi-Synthetic Agents with Antibacterial and Antifungal Properties” developed by Iulia Teleuca, 11th grade pupil, Private Educational Institution Theoretical Lyceum “Orizont” from Chisinau and “Контролируемая Акустическая Левитация” developed by Anton Bulancea, 9th grade pupil at the Theoretical Lyceum “Alexandr Pushkin” from Chisinau.
