The second-year students from the Technical University of Moldova (UTM) participated on December 7 in a public lecture on the field of intellectual property (IP), delivered by representatives of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI).

The purpose of this event was to strengthen knowledge in the field of IP, among students from the Faculty of Computers, Informatics and Microelectronics, in the discipline Intellectual Property Law.

Thus, during the seminar, Andrei Moisei, principal consultant, Communication and Training Division within AGEPI, familiarized the students with general aspects on intellectual property, about IP objects, the need, advantages and methods of their protection, the phenomena of counterfeiting and piracy and their negative effects. Also, the AGEPI specialist told the participants about the IT-field product and how to protect it as an intellectual property object. Andrei Moisei also presented useful information on copyright and related rights in the IT field, the legal framework and economic rights in the created software, the protection of computer programs and mobile applications, as well as the misuse or illegal assignment of source code.

The event ended with a question and answer session. In the end, the participants showed interest in further participation in such public lectures.

We should mention that, for AGEPI, training in the field of intellectual property is one of the key priorities in promoting and developing the intellectual property rights protection and enforcement system.

We remind you that in March 2009, the State Agency on Intellectual Property and the Technical University of Moldova signed a Cooperation Agreement in the field of intellectual property.
