On November 30, the fourth-year students within the Industrial Design Study Program, Industrial and Product Design Department of the Faculty of Design of the Technical University of Moldova (UTM) participated in a seminar entitled “Legal Peculiarities of the Registration of Trademarks, Industrial Designs as Industrial Property Objects”, organized by the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI).

The event aimed to familiarize students with the national intellectual property protection system, and also with the opportunities for its exploitation.

Thus, during the seminar, Andrei Moisei, coordinating specialist, Communication and Training Division of AGEPI, offered the students examples from national and international practice on the need and possibilities of using the results of innovation and creation activity, legal aspects related to intellectual property ; told them about the possibility of patenting/registration of intellectual property objects (IPO) by students, about IPO databases and related registration fees; encouraged students to be confident in their creative potential, to protect their rights to the results of intellectual activity and to clearly define their goals for the future.

The students showed interest in the topics related to industrial designs, inventions, trademarks, asked questions, expressed their opinion on various situations. The participants thanked for the dynamic and interactive way in which the seminar was held.
