Discussions between AGEPI and the EPO on the Examination of Patent Applications

12.10.2022

Specialists from the Patents Department of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) are participating from 11 to 14 October this year in 2 online coaching sessions organized by the European Patent Office (EPO). The subject of the guidance sessions concerns the patenting of electric vehicles.

In the opening of the first session, Radu David, team manager and examiner from the EPO, thanked the participants for their cooperation and interest in continuous training and professional development.

The examiners in the field of patenting of inventions are to discuss with the EPO representatives about the developments in the technological field, the research strategy, the patenting procedure in the technical field, study practical cases, as well as address other topics relevant to the field of activity.

The sessions are part of the Action Plan signed by the EPO and AGEPI for the years 2022-2023, with the aim of developing the institutional capacities of AGEPI, including the access of specialists to professional training programs in the field of patent administration and examination, organized by the EPO Academy, as well as supporting activities to promote innovations.

The Republic of Moldova has been cooperating with the European Patent Office for over 25 years. The EPO has supported and continues to support the efforts of the Republic of Moldova in the process of harmonizing the national patent system with the European one, providing technical assistance and consultancy to strengthen AGEPI’s capacities to implement the validation system in the Republic of Moldova.

We remind you that, since 2015, foreign applicants can validate their European patent applications and European patents on the territory of our country, after the entry into force of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the EPO on Validation of European Patents. Thus, European patents benefit from the same rights and legal protection as national patents issued in the Republic of Moldova
