The Deadline for the Final Stage of the Contest for Young People in the Field of Intellectual Property Has Been Extended

25.09.2020

The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) announces the extension of the deadline for the final stage (III) of the Contest for Young People in the Field of Intellectual Property 2020.

The contest is organized by AGEPI, in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research of the Republic of Moldova, State Office for Inventions and Trademarks of Romania and Romanian Copyright Office and takes place between April and September 2020, in three stages, according to the following program:

  • Stage I: April 26 - June 30, 2020;
  • Stage II: July 1 - July 31, 2020;
  • Stage III (final): August 1 - September 30, 2020.

46 participants applied to this year’s edition, 43 of them being accepted for the next stage of the contest, of which 20 young people participated in the second stage. Following the examination of the answers presented by the participants to the questions proposed by the organizers of the Contest for the second stage, 19 pupils were selected who met the promotion criteria in the third stage of the Contest.

During the final stage (III), they were to prepare a paper, on one of the themes proposed by the organizers, in a more interactive way (Power Point presentation, play, interview, video, study, drawing, etc.), with a maximum duration of 30 min, and to send it to AGEPI by September 30, 2020.

Due to the lack of time caused by the unusual educational process of this school year, in the context of the epidemiological situation in the country, the additional effort needed to edit videos, the increased emphasis given by twelfth-grade students to baccalaureate exams, participants failed to qualify within the announced deadline. The young people requested a possible extension of the deadlines for submitting the works. Thus, AGEPI decided to extend the period allocated to the third stage of the contest, until November 15, 2020.

The aim of the contest is to promote the intellectual property system, raise awareness among young people on counterfeiting and piracy, develop skills and competitive spirit, form a communication environment between young people passionate about the field of intellectual property and favor the exchange of opinions and experience.
