Public institutions responsible for IPR protection will make their work more efficient thanks to an IT system developed with EU support

Public institutions responsible for the protection of intellectual property rights (IPR), including AGEPI, Police, Prosecutor's Office, Judges Courts, Customs Service, Agency for Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance, will make their activity more efficient thanks to an IT system developed by the EU Project „Support to Enforcement of the Intellectual Property Rights” in the Republic of Moldova. The information system has been presented to beneficiary institutions in a series of seminars, organized by the experts of the EU Project during 23-26 October 2018.

According to the EU Project Team Leader, Mr. Maximilian Foedinger, development of an interinstitutional IP communication platform for process efficiency and data exchanging between public authorities is one of the most important components of the EU Project.

"The final result of this tool is to increase the quality of information exchange, generating a relevant statistics that underpin an effective IPR strategy. In the context of implementation of Association Agreement with EU and the competitiveness in a market with a share of the IP Industries over 40%, the development of an IPR compliance system in the Republic of Moldova becomes an imperative", Mr. Maximilian Foedinger said.

The EU Project Expert, Mr. Alexandar Josifoski, said that the architecture of the IT platform contains several modules: the AGEPI database, including international trademark information; an intervention system dedicated to the Customs Service, a module for IPR holders, aggregated IP statistics available to all institutions. The system will be integrated into the governmental e-Government platform and will be accessible through the web interface.

The EU Project ”Support to Enforcement of the Intellectual Property Rights” in the Republic of Moldova is funded by the European Union and implemented by a Consortium of Archidata LLC (Italy), European Profiles S.C. (Greece) and Business and Strategies in Europe (Belgium). The project has a duration of two years and ends in November 2018.
