The meeting of the Commission for Examination of Applications for the Grant of Permission to Use the Official or Historical Name of the State in the Trademark/Industrial Design took place on September 13, this year, in online format. The meeting was chaired by the Vice-President of the Commission, Head of the International Economic Cooperation Directorate, Ministry of Economic Development and Digitization, Cristina Ceban.
During the meeting, 2 requests for the use of the official or historical name of the State in the trademark were examined and it was decided to grant permission to use the official or historical name of the State in the trademarks.
The said trademarks are to be used for the following categories of products and services: alcoholic beverages; advertising; scientific and technological services, related research and design; industrial analysis and research services, etc.
In accordance with the legislation in force, trademarks, industrial designs containing the official or historical name of the State may be registered only with the permission of the Commission for Examination of Applications for the Grant of Permission to Use the Official or Historical Name of the State in the Trademark/Industrial Design, whose activity is regulated by Government Decision No. 8/2022.
