The State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) announces the launch of the Annual Report, which reflects the complex and multilateral activity of the institution during 2022.

As intellectual property plays an increasingly important role in the global economy, this report is an important tool for evaluating and understanding AGEPI’s activity in the field of intellectual property and is available to the general public. In addition, the document provides an overview of the evolution of intellectual property market in the Republic of Moldova and contributes to the development of a culture of respect for intellectual property among the population and the business environment.

In the current edition, relevant statistical data are presented on the results obtained in 2022, for each activity segment of AGEPI. The Report also contains the institution’s priority actions for 2023.

AGEPI Director General, Eugeniu Rusu, stated that despite the insignificant decrease in the number of requests for the registration of IP objects, AGEPI achieved important goals in 2022, such as the creation of the new Law on Copyright and Related Rights, which already entered into force. This will support the attempt to create a protective environment for authors and rightholders, especially since the Law transposes, to a large extent, European directives. In the same way, the procedures for amending the Law on Inventions have been started, and in 2023 the AGEPI team will work to align the field of trademarks with the European acquis.
