A study visit of the members of the European Law Students’ Association - ELSA National Group “ELSA Republic of Moldova” took place on December 6, this year, to the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI).

The visit to AGEPI aimed to familiarize young people with the national system of protection, enforcement and use of intellectual property rights (IP).

The students were greeted by the Director General of AGEPI, Eugeniu Rusu, after which they participated in an interactive lesson presented by Andrei Moisei, principal consultant, Communication and Training Division, focused on the role of intellectual property in an economy based on knowledge and creativity, the importance of protecting and enforcing IP rights, as well as international and national regulations in the field.

Afterwards, the students visited the Director General’s office, the library, the call center and the chancellery, where AGEPI specialists spoke to them about the procedures for registering intellectual property objects.

The study visit is part of the list of activities carried out during the Intellectual Property Week, organized by the European Law Students’ Association - ELSA National Group “ELSA Republic of Moldova”, from 5 to 7 December.

We should mention that AGEPI and the European Law Students’ Association - National Group “ELSA” signed a Cooperation Agreement in the field of intellectual property in April. The Agreement involves the cooperation of the two parties in the participation or organization of instructive-informative events in the field of protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights for ELSA members; providing access to public information in the field of intellectual property and to reference information and document retrieval sources; providing, upon request, consultancy in the field of intellectual property, etc.
