Plagiarism and Copyright Issues, Debated in a Webinar

On 19 November 2021, the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) and the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and Research (ANACEC), with the support of the EU Project “Support for Structured Policy Dialogue, Coordination of the Implementation of the Association Agreement, and Enhancement of the Legal Approximation Process”, organized a Webinar entitled “Plagiarism and Copyright”. The event was attended by approximately 170 students, teachers, researchers, as well as other persons interested in plagiarism, copyright issues and how to prevent their infringement.

The purpose of the event was to familiarize participants with current approaches in regulating the field of copyright and development trends of the system, as well as mechanisms for preventing plagiarism in the academic environment of the Republic of Moldova and Romania.

During the event, Gheorghe Cuciureanu, head of the Research and Innovation Evaluation Department, ANACEC, spoke about the phenomenon of intellectual theft in the Republic of Moldova. The AGEPI expert, Rodica Popescu, head of the Copyright Department, acquainted the participants with the copyright in the scientific community of the Republic of Moldova.

Details on the approach to plagiarism and copyright in Romania were presented by Irina Lucan-Arjoca, senior project expert, European Union Project “Support for Structured Policy Dialogue, Coordination of the Implementation of the Association Agreement, and Enhancement of the Legal Approximation Process”.
