Training Course in Intellectual Property for Judges and Prosecutors

02/19/2018

During the period 19-23 February 2018, the training course “Protection of Intellectual Property in the Republic of Moldova. Practical Aspects” for judges and prosecutors trained in the continuous training process conducted by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is held at the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI).

The training course aims at enhancing the knowledge of representatives of the Republic of Moldova’s justice sector on the enforcement of intellectual property rights in the context of examination of intellectual property disputes.

In the opening, AGEPI Director General Lilia Bolocan mentioned that training persons of the justice system in the field of intellectual property is extremely important for the proper examination of disputes related to this area.

The course deals with the national and international regulations in the field, the basic principles of intellectual property, its role and essence in legal relationships, the forms and limits of protection of intellectual property objects, the rights system that it generates, as well as the practical aspects on settlement of disputes concerning intellectual property rights.

This course is part of the list of joint activities planned by AGEPI and NIJ on the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding signed on April 12, 2013, which requires the promotion of knowledge about the national system of protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights among employees in the justice sector of the Republic of Moldova. Thus, within the activities stipulated in the Memorandum of Cooperation, the two institutions organize annually training seminars in the field, including by inviting experts and specialists from abroad.
