It was held the Meeting of the National Commission on Intellectual Property

The meeting of the National Commission on Intellectual Property (NCIP) was held on 26 April this year, at the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI). The meeting was chaired by Lilia Bolocan, Director General of AGEPI, Vice-Chairman of NCIP.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the specialized central bodies of the public administration, law-enforcement and control authorities, responsible for the protection of intellectual property rights, as well as representatives of non-commercial organizations in the field of intellectual property, members of the NCIP, including specialists therefrom.

During the meeting were examined subjects focusing on strengthening and developing the intellectual property protection system.

Increased attention was paid to the examination and approval of the Consolidated Monitoring Reports on the implementation of the Action Plan for 2015-2017 on the implementation of the National Intellectual Property Strategy until 2020 (reporting period 2017 and 2015-2017 respectively) and the establishment of new priorities in the context of the draft Action Plan for 2018-2020, recently approved by the Government of the Republic of Moldova.

Representatives of AGEPI, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Customs Service, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Agency for Consumer Protection and Market Surveillance have also presented information on the current situation in the field of intellectual property rights enforcement in the Republic of Moldova.

A priority for the members of the Commission was also the approach, during the meeting, of the actions taken by the authorities to develop the system of protection of geographical indications, appellations of origin and traditional specialties guaranteed in the Republic of Moldova, as well as the progress made in this respect.

Particular attention was paid to the copyright and related rights management system in the Republic of Moldova, being presented the developments in this field as a result of the actions taken by AGEPI.

At the same time, the members of the Commission were informed about the implementation of the EU Technical Assistance Project “Support to Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs)” in the Republic of Moldova, implemented in the Republic of Moldova during the period 2016-2018, as well as on the conduct of the Contest “Trademark of the Year 2017” organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with AGEPI.
