AGEPI participated in the Seminar “Intellectual Property Strategies and Policies” in China

During the period 14-16 December, the delegation of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI) attended the Seminar “Intellectual Property Strategies and Policies”, at the invitation of the State Intellectual Property Office of the People’s Republic of China (SIPO).

The seminar was held in Beijing, at the Intellectual Property Training Centre in China (IPTCC), and was aimed at creating a platform for communication between representatives of Intellectual Property Offices in Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasian Patent Office (EAPO) and SIPO, to share experiences, information and knowledge in the field of intellectual property.

The seminar was attended by representatives from 11 countries in Central and Eastern Europe, including Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, etc., and EAPO representatives.

On December 14, before the opening of the event, the AGEPI delegation had a meeting with the delegation of SIPO in the following composition: Dr. He Zhimin, Vice-President of SIPO, Wu Kai, Director General of International Cooperation Department, Wang Ying, Director, Division 4, International Cooperation Department, and Li Guanqun, Administrator of Programs & Interpreter, Division 4, International Cooperation Department.

During the meeting, it was emphasized the importance of strengthening Moldovan-Chinese bilateral cooperation relations in the field of intellectual property, was discussed the experience of the Chinese Office in stimulating and inspiring the activity of inventors, and was launched the AGEPI invitation of participation in the International Specialized Exhibition “Infoinvent – 2017”.

During the first two days of work, SIPO representatives presented reports on the following topics:

  • IP Marketing: Policy and Practice.
  • Trademarks and Geographical Indications. Strategy and Policy.
  • Promoting an Inclusive IP Culture Policy and Active Cultivation of Innovative Spirit.
  • Strengthening International Cooperation in the Field of IP: Promoting Common Regional Development.

The last day of the seminar was dedicated to an exchange of experiences and best practices among representatives of IP offices, invited to the seminar, who presented country reports on national intellectual property systems, intellectual property strategies and policies, and the achievements and prospects of development. The representative of the Eurasian Patent Office presented the Organization’s development agenda.

From the Republic of Moldova, Svetlana Munteanu, presented the report “Development of the National Intellectual Property System in the Republic of Moldova: Strategies and Policies”, which included a retrospective review of the evolution of the national IP system, legal and institutional framework, policy documents and strategies in the IP field, preparation and content of the National IP Strategy until 2020, objectives and stages of its implementation, main achievements of the first phase, and the expectations for the next steps of implementation.
